But I had NO IDEA it was this bad. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! of the TSB’s for it, including a couple of winners like “replace engine”
I really like the WK2, I think its really cool but great crap on a stick thats a lot of TSB’s for any car.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I want to buy FCA cause they make cool products, but I just can’t until stuff like this gets better.

So my parents bought a new Durango in the fall.
Whole new steering rack before the first oil change.

So much for me wanting a Grand Cherokee.

BLUE SMOKE FROM EXHAUST ON INITIAL START-UP WHEN PARKED FACING UPHILL ON AN INCLINE
I don’t know why, but the idea of something this specific being repeatable enough to need a TSB seems funny.

My cousin has a 15 GC. Second transmission in less than a year.

That's too bad. I don't think they look too bad. I'm getting spoiled by Toyota reliability, I don't think I could handle that.

I always say it had better break in the first year or after the 10th year. Anything in between is where I pass my judgment.

I remember reading all the articles when this came out, saying it was a better option than the Touareg mainly because of better expected reliability.

Heck I gave it a good reliability score in my survey. ..so much for that.

lol, I said to her— did you buy a Friday afternoon or a Monday morning build?
Oh and it was a SHIT customer service experience to get it fixed.
First time in, they give her a challenger R/T as a “rental” and they “tightened” the fittings - which you can’t do.
second time they gave her a POS with no brakes and bald tires she said if they didn’t have a decent car she’d come later.
third time they gave her a brand new chrysler 200 and they replaced the rack.

I <3 my job.
I hope they keep breaking... at least under warranty. Guaranteed money right there.

And to think I thought these suvs were reliable, better off with a tahoe.

Interesting. In fairness, many of those seem to be specific to the EcoDiesel, which is a shame in itself because we all want the diesels to succeed. I have a client with a ‘14 Overland 5.7 who beats the crap out of it and actually uses it offroad (nothing you’d call serious, but he’s scratched the skid plates at least), and it’s been good thus far. It’s certainly much nicer to drive and built to a higher standard than any previous GC I’ve experienced.
Also, this is a short list compared to many of Ze Germans I see. Could be worse.

Could be worse, for sure and I realize that this list includes several variations of the platform and some things that are minor. Somethings on that list are worrying a little though, like “flex plate not bolted properly” or “wrong suspension bolts used”.

Jesus, that’s pretty bad.

We picked up a new 2014 GC Overland in Dec 2013. We had a couple of software recalls, and the visor wire recall. All of those were addressed at oil change visits (although the visor one took forever due to parts availability, at least that’s what we were told.)
Thankfully, other than a punctured tire, we’ve had no other issues. We really like the vehicle and hope to keep it a while.
That said, I just compared the TSB/Recall list between her GC and my Taco. Quite a difference.

If you want reliability, stay away from the air suspension,
http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/jeep/g…
It’s not just with this Jeep. Air suspensions in general seem to be less reliable.
Aside from that, there have been some issues with the brakes that are caused by the OEM rotors being cheap. And the way to fix the issue is to replace the OEM rotors with something higher quality.
Oh and don’t use non-OEM seat covers:
http://wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_31…
... or it will end in FIERY DEATH!!!

Really? You’ve never heard of this?

That GC looks so damn good!
My teacher at tech school is a Chrysler mechanic. Even he says these things are not very reliable, which is a shame. He told us that he’s had a handful of SRTs in the shop to replace worn cams, all around the 30k mile mark. Pretty surprising.

My manager had a 2011 or something. It was so drastically unreliable, she traded it in for........another one. A 2015. It is also drastically unreliable.
